Mission Accomplished!

This title sums up the whole weekend!  I can't resist . . . HOW ABOUT THE GAMECOCKS?  Today, Sunday, October 10, 2010, is a great day to be a Carolina Gamecock.  For those of you who don't know, we beat the Number 1 team in the county yesterday.  The atmosphere in Williams-Brice was absolutely amazing, a once in a lifetime kind of experience.  Plus, I got to see Sandi, what a great ending to a perfect day.  Nothing sums it up better than, Mission Accomplished Gamecocks, Mission Accomplished!

Back to the Cottontown Conversion. . . there was also one and only one mission accomplished there today.  This accomplishment was a lot smaller than the Carolina victory, but it took just as much determination.  After spending the whole day (and night) tailgating and celebrating the victory, this morning got off to a late start, but not without an agenda.  Rod wanted us to get the ceiling on the front porch replaced and painted and the ceiling in the living room painted.  Well . . . he didn't get to check off everything on his accounting style ledger of to-dos.

Since starting the Blog, many of people have asked me "How do y'all have the energy to do this?"  The answer is I don't have the energy to do this, but I have to dig deep, I mean way deep to find the energy.  It is the kind of digging you have to do to make yourself study for a Statistics test in college when everybody else is at the biggest party of the year.  Rod on the other hand has enough energy for the both of us.

Today, all I wanted to do was sit on the porch, in the almost perfect South Carolina fall weather and watch reruns of the South Carolina v. Alabama game.  But, I dug deep and worked (or did a good job acting like it) for about five hours (felt like 15  hours).  Rod and I covered the existing bead board ceiling with new beaded pine.  I spent the first 2 hours trying to convince Rod that it would be faster to scrap the chipping paint, only because I knew we didn't have the materials needed to do that and I would be saved a Sunday afternoon.  That mission miserably failed.

This is the porch ceiling before. . .

I have to admit this picture was staged with scaffolding and a nail gun, but I did use both a lot today.  I also received a lesson on how to use Rod's compound mitre saw.  Cutting the boards will be my new job.

Notice my shirt, you probably can't see it but it is a Gamecock shirt.  I couldn't leave the house without representing this morning.

Mission Accomplished!  The (ready for paint) ceiling after . . .

The front is really shaping up.  There have been a lot of changes this week.  This is the latest picture.  Can you "spy" all of the changes?

Happy Monday,

Jewitte
