YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!

This house is the perfect example of this timeless saying, “you can’t judge a book by its cover.”  If I had judged this unimpressive brick duplex by its cover, I would have been making a huge mistake.  The front of the house has undergone a drastic transformation, to say the least.

Remember what the front looked like "In the beginning."

Subtract one door and add a new-improved door and custom (Rod built) columns and this is what you get.

Rod "Meticulous" Dooley built the columns.  It was a two week project.  Rod spent hours perfecting his angles.

By the way, for any Zetas checking out the Blog notice Rod's shirt.

Next we painted the brick.  The decision to paint was a tough one, but the plain brick wasn't doing it for us.  The color was a source of much discussion in our house, but we are both very satisfied with the final decision.

As of today, the old steps (the concrete ones) in this picture have been removed.  The sidewalks that once led to the front door of each duplex have also been removed.  I refrained from watching the removal, because I was terrified they were going to pull the whole house down.

We still have A LOT to do on the front of the house, new windows, painting all trim, landscaping, new sidewalks, lighting, ect.  You get the point . . . we still have a lot of work to do on the front of the house.

Until next time,
Jewitte
